YouTube was once a quirk little video-hosting website that created some funny and meaningful content, but which seemed to serve no other purpose at the time. That has all changed now as numerous "YouTube stars" have found a way to monetize their talents and their willingness to share aspects of their life and thoughts. There are some who have even made YouTube a full-time income stream for themselves. Thus, the optimization of the platform has become a major concern for anyone who has aspirations of making YouTube into more than just a hobby.

Does Timing Matter When Uploading To YouTube?

Creative minds often want to publish their work as soon as it is completed. There is nothing quite like wrapping up a new YouTube video and releasing it to the world. Most people get this sense of anticipation about what the public might think of their video, and they want the answer to that question right away. However, it is prudent to pull back a little and consider the timing of your videos before pressing the publish button.

It is important to allow some time to pass between video releases. As fun as YouTube videos are, they can become overwhelming if you constantly publish video after video without consideration for your audience. Also, you will want to try to publish videos that are relevant to current events or hot topics of conversation as those topics are rising in popularity. You either catch the wave while it is rising like this, or you simply post "evergreen" videos that are relevant no matter what is going on in the news cycle. Either way, timing out the release of your videos is essential.

When Is The Best Time To Upload A YouTube Video?

Timing is everything when it comes to uploading videos to YouTube. There are certain times of the day when more people are searching the video-sharing website, and there are also times when YouTube itself gets to work (via algorithms) indexing various videos based on their content. Entrepreneur.com created a valuable breakdown of when the best times for posting are. They say the following:

Post on weekday afternoons to give YouTube enough time to index the videos and alert your viewrs. Some experts suggest posting between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, or between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. Thursday and Friday. (All times are EST.)

Weekends however are a little different. Saturday and Sunday, a post-time between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. is optimal.

Much of this timing has to do with the schedules of schoolchildren and young adults. These two groups make up the vast majority of the audience on YouTube, and their schedules must be accommodated for in order to achieve maximum impact.

Always Keep Your Audience First

The fact that you are considering when the best moment to release YouTube videos is points to the fact that you are the type of person who cares about your audience. You want them to be served by your content, and that is excellent. This means that you are probably already always thinking about your audience first. Just make sure that you keep that mindset up. Remember, the quality of your content is far more important to your long-term success on YouTube than the quantity. YouTube rewards those who create lasting content that people adore. If that is something that you can do, then you are in good shape to make excellent videos going forward.
