Duties: :
This person will be part of the Vortex engineering team that develops and maintains solutions for networked news products for Broadcasters. These solutions are deployed and in use at 45+ sites worldwide. These solutions are client/server video solutions for news productions. The various components of the solution include applications for ingest, editing, and playout of video. Also part of the system is video servers and databases. Key customers include CNN and other major broadcasters worldwide. This individual will be part of a team responsible for maintaining and supporting existing solutions and also making software and system enhancements to the existing solution. Supporting these sites would require providing customer support over the phone and at times even traveling on-site to address critical issues.
Essential Responsibilities:
• Get up to speed on the existing components including usage and software implementation. This will allow them to support and enhance the existing products.
• Work with the customer support team to troubleshoot customer issues. This includes reviewing logs, trying to reproduce issues in the QA Lab, and providing technical guidance to the customer support team. There are times when on-site visits may be required to resolve issues.
• Develop feature enhancements to the existing software to meet customer requirements. Also responsible for the design, testing and technical documentation of these features.
• Develop technical documentation and build other tools on the existing product to improve the supportability of the product.
Requirements: :
This is a starting Software Engineering position for individuals who are new graduates or are looking for opportunities to build their software and technology development skills. The individual should good software skills, demonstrate an ability to learn quickly, be highly motivated and willing to tackle challenging projects.
Qualifications: :
Education:
BS degree in Computer Science, EE or equivalent.
Experience:
• Should have experience programming in C/C++
• Familiar with developing software in a Windows development environment using Microsoft tools
