Pinnacle Studio Plus version 12 Wins EISA European HD Video Editing 2008-2009 Award

Pinnacle’s Flagship Software Cited as “the most versatile solution for the video amateur who wants to master advanced editing techniques with minimum effort.”

Pinewood, 08/18/2008 -

Pinnacle Systems, Inc., a part of Avid Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: AVID), today announced that Pinnacle Studio™ Plus version 12, its market-leading consumer video editing software, is the recipient of the prestigious European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) “European HD Video Editing 2008-2009” Award. Offering a complete HD workflow solution, Pinnacle Studio Plus simplifies importing, editing and exporting full, high-definition (HD) video, including HDV and AVCHD video. Pinnacle Studio Plus’s burning capabilities allow users to natively author and burn Blu-ray format (BD-MV) discs with full motion menus or make AVCHD format discs on standard DVDs to play on Blu-ray players.

Innovation and ease of use have made Pinnacle Studio #1 in the consumer video editing market in the U.S.¹ and in major European countries2 and a three-time winner of the EISA Award. Previously, Pinnacle Studio version 7 and Pinnacle Studio Plus version 10 Titanium Edition were EISA Award winners.

EISA awards recognize products that combine the most advanced technology, most desirable features, ultimate expression of design, and greatest value. EISA Award winners are chosen annually by panels representing nearly 50 prominent photo, video, audio, home theater and mobile electronics magazines from up to 20 European countries.

“It’s rewarding to see Pinnacle Studio honored for the third time with an award that is widely recognized as one of the most prestigious international awards in the European consumer electronics industry,” said Tanguy Leborgne, Pinnacle Systems vice president of worldwide marketing. “Pinnacle will continue to enhance the digital lives of our sophisticated European customers by creating products that offer the latest technical advancements while maintaining ease of use.”

Commenting on the award, EISA’s jury praised Pinnacle Studio for its versatility. An excerpt from the EISA Jury’s Award citation names some of the products winning features.
“Pinnacle Studio is the most versatile solution for the video amateur who wants to master advanced editing techniques with minimum effort. The newest Plus version gains not only the facility to handle video files from a great variety of HD cameras, but also the option of authoring and burning Blu-ray Discs with HD video films at full resolution.Additionally, it’s possible to burn HD resolution films on normal DVDs, providing a more cost-effective and versatile option (extending compatibility to include not only standalone Blu-ray players but also PC Blu-ray drives.) For high-end users, Pinnacle Studio 12 is available in an Ultimate version providing additional program plug-ins and a complete chroma-keying solution.”

With support for the AVCHD format, the Plus and Ultimate versions of Pinnacle Studio enable users to capture video from the new AVCHD camcorders and edit their content directly—eliminating the need for time-consuming format conversions. Offering substantially higher compression efficiency than the MPEG-2 format, AVCHD delivers 1080i high-definition video but only requires about half the storage capacity.

Another time-saver, the new Pinnacle Montage feature included in Pinnacle Studio 12 makes creating a video with multi-track overlays amazingly easy. Users can create professional-looking results in minutes by simply selecting from the more than 80 pre-built creative templates divided into 11 themes that were designed by professional producers and artists. With the ability to overlay multiple Montage presets and enhance them with titles, sounds, music, transitions and other effects, users do not need to drill into various video tracks or be an expert.

Videos created with Studio version 12 can be directly uploaded to web-sharing sites like YouTube®; archived on DVD, Blu-ray and HD DVD discs; or loaded into Sony® PSP™, Apple® iPod®, DivX®- certified players and 3GP cell phones.
